Ice caps are melting and fast. Every day they melt more and more. National Geographic states:

There are more than five million cubic miles of ice on Earth, and some scientists say it would take more than 5,000 years to melt it all. If we continue adding carbon to the atmosphere, we’ll very likely create an ice-free planet, with an average temperature of perhaps 80 degrees Fahrenheit instead of the current 58.

Who would want a world like that? Some animals need the ice. Some species will even go extinct. There are only 22,000 to 31,000 polar bears left on the planet, the average number of animal-not going extinct- in a species is 1 to 2 million that is on average 1,000,000 more animals in a normal size species than polar bears.

Animals aren’t the only ones who are effected, humans also are effected. Greenland is melting too. ex-parrot.com says:

How long will it take to melt at current rates. So, divide, 2 850 000 by 220 and you get 13000 years. To put it another way, if the rate of ice melt in Greenland accelerates by a factor of 300 and remains at that level for the next 43 years the icecap will finish melting in 2050.

This was posted a few years ago so now it would 31 years!

2. There are 7 trillion pounds of ice melting each year

This week we wanted to do something more Halloween-y so we decided to do a blog post on the endangered bat species the Indiana Bat.

Most people don’t like bats here is our argument on that case.

1. They eat mosquito’s and who likes mosquito bites? Who likes the stinky bug spray you have to use to so you don’t get bit? They eat many other bugs.
2. Bats are also seed disperses.
3. Some bats are pollinators.

Bats are amazing creatures and do much, much more.

Now lets talk about the endangered bats species the Indiana bat, here are some facts.

1. The Indiana bat has been endangered since 1967.
2. They are as social bats because they cluster together in groups, for hibernation, called “hibernacula”
3. After hibernation they fly to hardwood forests. (A reason to stop cutting down forests)

The 2005 population estimate is about 457,000 Indiana bats, half as many as when the species was listed as endangered in 1967. Here are some ways to help save ALL endangered bat species.

1. Reduce pesticides.
2. Put up a Bat house
3. Promote Natural bat habitat.

Global Warming. Pollution. These are the biggest problems in our world today. The earth is heating up too much. It has been increasing speed since 1900. As you can imagine, it is affecting the coldest places in our world today: Antarctica and the North Pole, and us. All around us, even though we don’t realize it. The animals there are being affected, too. And us. We think it’s not a problem, but it IS. Here are the most important facts about this:

List of things we can do to help:

1. Recycle. This is more to help pollution, but it also affects global warming.
2. Plant trees. Trees help the air and clean it out. These great parts of nature can change the world.
3. Stand up to paper towels. I know this sounds silly, but we NEED TREES. They help us breathe. And they help clean out the air. So fight against paper towels!

List of facts:

1. China is the lead in Global Warming/Pollution, but the United States is next in line.
2. We’ve started. But in order to avoid the worst effects of climate change, we need to do a lot more- and work with other countries- to reduce our dependence on fossil fuels and start using clean energy instead.
3. Under Trump administration, DOT is working to roll back these clean vehicle safeguards that protect the climate and our health.
4. Look for products with the Government’s Energy Star Label.

Make up. Blood banks. Illegal zoos. Labs. All of these are places animals are being abused. Scientists (in labs) inject products of our make-up and SELL IT! We don’t need makeup! Of course, everyone likes it. But, the ones they inject animals with? Living animals!? We need to stop this NOW! No more, but their not human, and they don’t matter. Do you have a pet? A favorite animal? If we don’t help, those animals won’t even exist anymore. So many animals have gone extinct because of us! We need to stand up for what is right. And this is wrong.

Illegal zoos are the worst out of all of it. They set up a small habitat for animals on the sides of road sides to make money. They chain up the animals, put them in habitats they aren’t used to, and people pay money to see the animals.

Blood banks are places where they take blood from animals, like dogs, cats, farm animals and even circus animals.
